Code of Conduct
Blue Iris Farm is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all individuals who come to our farm.
Overview
Our Code of Conduct sets out the expectations we have for everyone who participates in our programs, events, and activities. By participating in any Blue Iris Farm programs, events, and activities, you are agreeing to this Code of Conduct and committing to upholding the values of respect, kindness, and inclusivity that are central to our mission.
Respect Others
Treat all individuals with respect and dignity, regardless of their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law. Harassment, discrimination, or any other behavior that creates an unwelcoming or hostile environment will not be tolerated.
Respect the Animals
We are dedicated to providing a safe and caring environment for the animals on our farm. All visitors are expected to treat the animals with kindness and respect, and to follow all safety guidelines provided by our staff.
Sanitary & Biosafety Requirements
To protect the health of our animals, our staff, and all guests, the following sanitary and biosafety practices are mandatory for all visitors:
- All visitors must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer upon arrival at the farm.
- Hands must be washed or sanitized before and after any interaction with animals.
- Hands must be washed or sanitized before handling or consuming any food on the property.
- Hand-washing stations and sanitizer are available throughout the farm. Please ask a staff member if you need assistance locating them.
These requirements are in place to prevent the spread of zoonotic illness and to maintain a healthy environment for our rescued animals. Non-compliance with biosafety requirements is grounds for removal from the property.
Be Safe
Safety is our top priority. All visitors are expected to follow safety guidelines provided by our staff, including but not limited to wearing appropriate footwear, following animal safety protocols, and refraining from behavior that could cause harm to themselves or others.
Follow Farm Rules
All visitors are expected to follow our farm rules, including but not limited to respecting designated areas, staying with their designated group, and refraining from behavior that could damage property or disrupt the farm environment.
Be Kind
Blue Iris Farm is dedicated to creating a culture of kindness and compassion. All visitors are expected to treat each other with kindness, empathy, and understanding, and to refrain from behavior that could be harmful or hurtful to others.
Report Concerns
If you witness any behavior that violates our Code of Conduct or makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please report it immediately to a member of our staff. We take all reports seriously and will take appropriate action to address any concerns.
Enforcement Policy
Blue Iris Farm reserves the right to ask any visitor to leave the premises immediately, and revoke site access without refund, for non-compliance with staff instructions or posted rules.
This includes, but is not limited to, violations of biosafety requirements, disrespectful behavior toward animals or other guests, failure to follow staff direction, or any conduct that compromises the safety or wellbeing of our animals, staff, or visitors.
