Cotton Ball & Q-tip

Sheep

Cotton Ball & Q-tip

Cotton Ball and Q-tip arrived in March 2025 after their owner passed away and caring neighbors stepped in to help. When they first came to Blue Iris Farm, they were extremely skittish and carried years of heavy, matted wool. Today, their transformation is complete. They eagerly sprint up to visitors and volunteers, always trying to get a head start on where treats and feed will land. Our agricultural science students regularly shear them and use their harvested wool to create felted artwork for our community displays. Cotton Ball and Q-tip have blossomed from neglected, timid sheep into inquisitive, gentle farm favorites who bring endless energy to our herd.

Snowball & Therapy Bunnies

Rabbits

Snowball & Therapy Bunnies

Snowball arrived at our farm during a severe snowstorm, left quietly on our doorstep. He quickly became a beloved ambassador for our Connections Program, spreading warmth and comfort to youth workshops, local senior centers, and convalescent homes. Having brought immense comfort to countless community members, Snowball has since retired into a wonderful forever home with a loving family. Blue Iris Farm permanently houses a rotating group of 7 to 10 rescue bunnies that continue this therapeutic mission. These gentle animals play a vital role in our educational programs, teaching children empathy, gentle handling, and animal stewardship through hands-on interaction and quiet companionship.

Whimsical & Dream

Horses

Whimsical & Dream

Whimsical and Dream originally belonged to a loving home, but when their owner's health declined, they were surrendered to a work-horse operation in Vermont. Soon after, they were passed through the livestock auction circuit, arriving at our sanctuary critically ill and with severe, untreated injuries—Whim even suffered a debilitating leg injury that had gone ignored. After painstaking medical research and intensive care, our team successfully treated their life-threatening illnesses and rehabilitated their physical trauma. Today, Whimsical and Dream are thriving, fully restored to health, and enjoying a safe, permanent sanctuary for life. Their journey illustrates the vital importance of our mission: rescuing vulnerable draft animals from auction pipelines and giving them the peaceful retirement they truly deserve.

We visited Blue Iris Farm for the very first time today to celebrate our son's first birthday, and I truly cannot recommend this place enough! My husband booked us a private tour, and from the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed. We were greeted by Katlyn, who was absolutely wonderful and gave us the most amazing experience. Our tour started with getting to play with the bunnies in a little gated area, and from there we got to feed the pigs, cows, and goats and brush the horses. What made this experience so special, though, was that Blue Iris Farm is SO much more than a typical petting zoo where you simply stand behind a fence and feed the animals. Katlyn and Jamie, the owner, welcomed us into different pens and barns to actually interact with the animals. At one point, the goats even followed us down to the pond, where we got to feed them out in the open! Katlyn has such an incredible personality. She is friendly, patient, genuinely enthusiastic, and completely go-with-the-flow, which made the entire experience feel so natural and fun. You can tell how much she loves the animals and cares about making sure every family has a wonderful experience. One of the things I found most amazing about Blue Iris Farm is how personal the tours are. Jamie has created this incredible animal rescue farm from the ground up, and the experience is tailored to the people who are visiting — including their ages, interests, and comfort levels. For our son's first birthday, they were able to create an experience that was perfect for him, and it made the day feel incredibly special. There is so much to see and do here, and you can tell that this farm is built around genuine love for the animals and for creating meaningful experiences for families. We left already talking about when we could come back! If you are looking for something more meaningful than a traditional petting zoo, especially with young children, Blue Iris Farm is absolutely worth visiting. We are so grateful we found this place and got to make such a special memory for our son's first birthday. We truly cannot recommend Blue Iris Farm, Jamie, and Katlyn enough!

What a wonderful experience at Blue Iris Farm! Jamie, the owner, was absolutely amazing and made us feel so welcomed! We had such a special one to one experience with the animals-goats, horses, pigs and even two adorable Golden Retrievers! The highlight was definitely going on the goat walk! The animals are incredibly friendly and clearly so well cared for & loved! I went with my niece and we both really needed a little tranquility, peace and time to just slow down. Thats exactly what we found at Blue Iris. The farm has such a calm, peaceful and happy vibe that you can't help but leave feeling refreshed! Thank you Jamie for creating such a beautiful place and sharing it with others! I'll definitely be back!!

Our time spent at Blue Iris was inspiring and heart warming. It is clear that Jaimie cares for the animals she rescues and the people who come to the farm. Everyone was welcoming and willing to share the history of the land, stories about the animals and the vision for the future. The goat walk was the highlight of the visit and I would highly recommend it!! Thank you, Jaimie, for the great experience and the work you do.

We had the most wonderful morning at Blue Iris. We booked a "Time with the Herd" session last minute (less than 2 hours before it started), and Jamie and Kaitlyn were extremely accommodating and still happy to guide us through the farm. My 4-year-old son had so much fun playing with, petting, feeding and learning about the animals. This is truly a special place and we will surely be back.

My daughter (4) and I had a truly wonderful experience at Storytime on the Farm. Jamie and her incredible team of assistants were so attentive, showing immense care for both the animals and the children. Their mission is truly special. For both personal and professional reasons, I am deeply inspired to get involved and look forward to volunteering and supporting their work much more.

This summer I volunteered at Blue Iris Farm once a week! I had the most amazing experience caring for the various animals and learning the ins and outs of what working on a farm entails alongside Jamie and other awesome people! I love that they are a rescue farm AND do community outreach to bring small animals to places like convalescent homes!
